Advanced Herbal Hair Growth Active

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

WHAT IS HAIR:-

Hair is a non-living keratinized structure protruding from the epidermis. Hair consists of a central core of closely packed cortical cells sheathed by thin layers of cuticle that overlap each other from root to the tip. The whole action actually happens in the subdermal and hypodermal part where the hair follicle and the dermal papilla sit. The hair follicle is made of epithelial cells that produce hair. The papilla is enclosed at the base of the hair follicle. It is a lump of connective tissue surrounding nerves and blood vessels nourishing the hair follicle

HAIR GROWTH CYCYLE

Mature hair follicles grow, live and die in regular cycles. Each cycle is divided into 4 phases (in older books and journals, 3 cycles are mentioned). These cycles are:

1. Anagen (Growth Phase):

  • This is the longest and most active phase, lasting between 2-7 years on average.

  • During this phase, the hair follicle actively produces new hair cells in the hair matrix, located at the base of the follicle.

  • The newly formed hair cells push the older hair shaft upwards, resulting in visible hair growth.

2. Catagen (Transition Phase):

  • This short phase, typically lasting 2-3 weeks, marks the end of active hair growth.

  • The hair follicle shrinks in size, and the hair bulb detaches from the blood supply.

  • Hair growth slows down significantly, and the hair shaft begins to form a "club hair" at the end.

3. Telogen (Resting Phase):

  • This phase lasts for about 2-3 months, and the hair remains anchored in the follicle but is no longer growing.

  • Eventually, the hair follicle releases the hair shaft, which is then shed during the exogen phase.

4. Exogen (Shedding Phase):

  • This is the final phase where the shed hair falls out of the scalp.

  • The hair follicle then enters a new anagen phase, and the cycle starts again.

In a healthy scalp 80% - 90% of hair follicles are always in the active growth phase. When this ratio is reduced (exogenous and endogenous factors), hair loss becomes significant.

Product Name: AVDEUS HGF-9

INCI Name: PENTYLENE GLYCOL (AND) SPROUT PEA (PISUM SATIVUM) EXTRACT (AND) AQUA (AND) CAMELLIA SINERNSIS EXTRACT (AND) POTASSIUM SORBATE (AND) AQUA

Company: INGREDIENT EARTH

Introduction: AVDEUS HGF-9 is a proprietary hair growth ingredient blend formulated by Ingredient Earth. It combines the benefits of sprouted pea extract and camellia sinensis extract (50% EGCG) to promote healthy hair growth and reduce hair loss

Benefits:

  • Stimulates hair growth by upregulating the expression of genes important for hair follicle proliferation, such as fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF7) and noggin.

  • Reduces hair loss by promoting the anagen (growth) phase of the hair follicle cycle and shortening the telogen (shedding) phase.

  • Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to combat free radical damage and inflammation that contribute to hair loss.

  • Provides essential nutrients for healthy hair growth, including vitamins, minerals, and protein.

Active Ingredients:

1. Sprouted Pea Extract :- sprouted peas contain a number of Phyto-actives that may contribute to hair health. One of the most promising ones is

A. Isoflavones: Isoflavones are a type of plant Estrogen (phytoestrogen) that have a similar structure to Human Estrogen. They are believed to promote hair growth by:

  • Extending the anagen phase (growth phase) of the hair follicle

  • Stimulating the proliferation of hair follicle cells

  • Increasing blood flow to the scalp

Another Phyto active compound in sprouted peas that contributes to hair health is

B. Coumestrol:

  • Reduce hair loss

  • Improve hair thickness

  • Prevent premature greying.

MODE OF ACTION:

· Up-regulates the expression of FGF7, a signaling factor that stimulates hair follicle stem cells and initiates the anagen phase.

· Increases noggin expression, which indirectly inhibits BMP4, a protein that suppresses hair follicle growth and promotes the telogen phase.

2. Camellia Sinensis Extract (50% EGCG):

HAIR LOSS, DHT, AND THE POTENTIAL OF GREEN TEA: AN EXPLANATION

Androgenic alopecia, a common cause of hair loss, arises from elevated levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone derived from testosterone. DHT disrupts the hair growth cycle, leading to premature growth cessation and hair loss. This disruption is primarily caused by DHT's activation of androgen receptors in hair follicles.

5α-reductase, an enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT, plays a crucial role in androgenic alopecia. Its activity or expression is often elevated in affected individuals, making it a prime therapeutic target. Androgen receptors themselves are also a target, as their activation by DHT triggers expression of genes that negatively impact hair follicle development, morphology, and cell cycle.

Recent research has delved into the involvement of microRNAs (miRNAs) in hair loss. These small, non-coding RNAs influence gene expression and play key roles in various cellular processes. Studies have shown that DHT alters miRNA expression profiles in dermal papilla cells (DPCs), specialized cells within the hair follicle bulb. Additionally, miRNA expression is altered in balding DPCs.

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a major component of green tea, is known for its anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. In the context of hair loss, EGCG has been shown to

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone derived from testosterone, playing a crucial role in hair growth. However, elevated DHT levels disrupt the hair growth cycle, potentially leading to androgenic alopecia, characterized by hair loss.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), tiny RNA molecules within cells, regulate gene expression and influence cellular functions. This research explored how increased DHT levels alter the expression of specific miRNAs in dermal papilla cells (DPCs), the root of hair follicles. These changes triggered cell death, slowed growth, and increased oxidative stress in DPCs, contributing to hair loss.

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a key component of green tea, emerged as a potential hair loss combatant. The study revealed that EGCG reversed the DHT-induced alterations in miRNA expression within DPCs. This, in turn, reduced cell death, stimulated cell growth, and lowered oxidative stress levels, ultimately mitigating hair loss

· Green tea extract, particularly its EGCG content, shows potential for promoting hair growth.

· Studies in animals and cultured cells suggest EGCG can stimulate hair follicles and dermal papilla cells, key players in hair growth.

· EGCG may also protect these cells from the harmful effects of DHT, a hormone linked to hair loss.

· This protection likely involves changes in microRNA expression, influencing cell survival and function.

MODE OF ACTION:

· Exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, reducing scalp inflammation and oxidative stress that contribute to hair loss.

· May promote hair growth by stimulating blood flow to the scalp and inhibiting the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, an enzyme involved in hair follicle miniaturization.
